Therapies I suggest

Chemotherapy

One of the most important way to kill cancer cells. It acts on the DNA of the cell and damages it. There are various chemotherapeutic regimens, both intravenous and oral. Most chemotherapies have predictable side effects and generally well tolerated.

Immunotherapy

It is a recent development. Modulates the body's own immune system to kill cancer cells. Used for several cancers with reasonable success.

Targeted therapy

We have entered an era of personalised medicine and precision oncology. Cancers occur due to genetic mutations (genetic defect). Targeted therapy targets these specific mutations to kill cancer cells.Generally very well tolerated with minimal side effects and improved outcomes. Serveral targeted therapies are oral and hence patient compliance is good.

Integrative Oncology

Yoga

There is growing evidence to support this.

Music therapy

Listening to music can help alleviate certain side effects of chemotherapy.

Exercise & Fitness

Following a good fitness regimen and regular exercise can lead to better outcome in cancer patients.

Nutrition

Nutrition is of paramount importance. A well balanced diet can go a long way in improving overall outcome in cancer patients.

People Speak

Dr. Vishwanath is an exceptionally knowledgable and caring oncologist. When our fifteen year old was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma, Dr. Vishwanath not only guided his path to healing, but did so with the highest levels of professionalism and communication. We were in good hands and, having returned home to the USA, remain assured that the care our child received was amongst the best he could have received anywhere in the world. We are deeply grateful to Dr. Vishwanath and his team!

Family member

Doctor is so kindful and skilled..he treated me very well...thank you sir...

Patient

5 Stars are not enough. Happy if more stars could be given, especially to Dr.Vishwanath. And Apollo, the Best care I have ever observed so far, especially the Oncology department.

Family member

My Dad has Multiple Myeloma. We are extremely fortunate to have him be treated by Dr. vishwanath (recommended by a specialist in MD Anderson, Houston) who has done his fellowship in Myeloma from MD. Anderson (one of the top hospitals in US). I do read a lot and have plenty of questions which Dr. Vishwanath answers very patiently. Most doctors in India would perhaps have been unhappy with my questions -- but not the good doctor. He serves as an excellent "quarterback" co-ordinating with various other doctors (Cardiologists, ENT, pulmonologists, neurologists etc). We cannot wish for a better doctor than him and i regard it as a blessing to have this young doctor treat my dad. (I am not exaggerating when i say this). He is up to date with the latest advances in Myeloma and will discuss with you about latest research - should interest the folks who have tons of questions after reading stuff on google (like me) :-). BTW, for folks with Multiple Myeloma, you need to see a doctor who has a fellowship in Myeloma (This is what is recommended through out the world). I could not find any other doctor with similar qualifications in Bangalore when I looked. I have experience with various doctors in US and regard him extremely highly for his attention to detail, patient care, etc, etc...In summary, I really cannot recommend a better doctor than Dr. Vishwanath for Myeloma patients in Bangalore. I and our family are in his debt for all the care he has provided to my dad and I can truly say from the bottom of my heart that we can never ever repay his debt.

Family member

My whole family is thankful to Dr. Vishwanath. His way of treatment is very satisfactory. My dad is recovering now. we could see the change and he is leading a normal life now. Dr. s very supportive and patiently answers our doubts. Down to earth. Thank you so much Dr.

Family member

My wife (name redacted) sure was admitted to Apollo Bannerghatta during July 2013 for breast cancer under the supervision of Dr. Bapsy and Dr Vaishnavi. now under hormone therapy. Dr S Vishwanth is down to earth . The condition of my wife is good and is doing routine work. The nursing staff is very good. Overall I recommend this hospital.

Family member

Very important message. One of the most celebrated, sensible doctors india could ever witness. He is my mother's doctor his knowledge on medicine and medical sciences is way superior. We need to hear him out for better living. I personally am very happy with Dr Vishwanath Oncologist.

Family member

Dr.Vishwanath is a kind, humble and down to earth person.Touches and changes lives - I should say.During the first consultation itself, understood we are in safe hands.Totally convinced by his confidence in explaining to all our queries. He did a thorough analysis and put a plan in place for the treatment. My mother has responded very well to the treatment. He examines with keen clinical focus remembering patient history very well which is key, always spends enough time to listen from patients every visit and been extremely empathetic. He is a GOD to my mothers eyes. Not just to patients, he is a visionary lead to his team. Thank You Dr.

Family Member

My wife had breast cancer and was treated by Dr. Vishwanath at Apollo Hospital Bannergata . He is an excellent doctor. Very caring and very knowledgeable. He is extremely patient and has been GOD sent. The hospital staff also including the admin, nurses etc have been extremely helpful. Family member
